David Cappiello Endorsed at Fifth District Republican Convention
Southbury— State Senator David Cappiello today became the official Republican nominee for Congress in Connecticut’s Fifth District. Cappiello was endorsed by the delegates to the FifthDistrict Republican Convention held at the Southbury Crowne Plaza Hotel.
“It’s truly humbling that Republicans in the Fifth District have thrown their support behind my bid for Congress, and I want to thank them for their strong support,” said Cappiello. “I know that this endorsement will serve as the foundation on which our campaign will build a broad coalition of voters from each of the forty-one towns in the district thatwill propel us to victory in November.”
Cappiello was nominated by Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, and seconded by Farmington Town Council President Michael Clark. Former U.S. Rep.Nancy L. Johnson introduced Cappiello after the endorsement vote was cast.
“The people of Connecticutare tired of a do-nothing Congress that has failed to address their needs, and worse, has an unacceptable habit of saying one thing but doing another,”continued Cappiello. “From raising taxes at a time of economic uncertainty, to enabling corrupt earmark spending,to stalling immigration reform, to putting trial lawyers ahead of our national security, this Congress isn’t the change that anyone asked for. I’m running because Connecticut deserves a Congressman that will fight to make our state, and our country, a better, freer, more affordable place to live, work, and raise a family. I look forward to sharing that vision with the voters, and to engaging in a respectful debate with Congressman Murphy about the future of America.”
