Monday Press Conference on Mortgage Crisis followed by
Tuesday No-Show on Vote to Expand Homeownership Act

DANBURY, CT – A day after holding a press conference advocating for congressional reforms to help struggling homeowners avoid foreclosure, Congressman Chris Murphy was a no-show for the vote on the Expanding the American Homeownership Act of 2007 – a law meant to help address the mortgage crisis by preventing low-income and/or inexperienced home buyers from signing loans they can not afford.

State Senator David Cappiello, Republican candidate for Connecticut’s Fifth Congressional District Seat, said, “This is just the latest example of the freshmen congressman saying one thing and then doing another.  If Chris Murphy is so interested in solving the mortgage crisis, why did he skip yesterday’s vote on the Expanding American Homeownership Act?”

Cappiello Embarks on District-Wide Tour to
Launch 2008 Congressional Campaign

Danbury, CT – State Senator David Cappiello (R-Danbury), Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Connecticut’s Fifth Congressional District, will embark on a 41-day tour Wednesday to meet with thousands of residents at summer events in each of the district’s 41-towns.

“This is the beginning of a campaign that will truly belong to the people of the Fifth Congressional District,” said Senator Cappiello.  “The purpose of 41 Towns-in-41 Days is to give the people of our district a voice in the 2008 congressional election.”

41 Towns-in-41 Days kicks-off Wednesday in Torrington, where Senator Cappiello will go door-to-door to greet residents with Mayor Ryan Bingham, visit patrons at a popular local diner, and attend the 42nd Annual Torrington RTC Family BBQ.
